‘Take it Away’ was the groundbreaking new single from Koven which continued to prove the cinematic bass music act is a formidable force within the wider dance music circuit. This can be seen thoroughly across the last few years where Max and Katie spent their time in sonic solitude to build a platform which would elevate them within their field, leading to a global tour as frequent headliners at sell-out shows and most recently on stage at this year’s EDC festival in Las Vegas. Yet their grasp on the industry grows tighter, through another fresh selection on Monstercat which follows in the wake of their latest cut ‘Take it Away’ (featuring the ‘Parallax Orchestra’, the same group behind the Eminem and Clean Bandit shows at Wembley Arena, as well as Bring Me The Horizon and Architects’ UK #1 albums). Already garnering hundreds of thousands of streams, as well as Radio 1 tastemaker support in the UK within 2022, Koven prove their ability to bridge oceans with their sounds – something which their new record Lionsis sure to capitalize on.

Led with war-like drums opening an epically sequenced introduction, Lionskicks into play with the same overtones which have made Koven’s records so instantly recognizable. With sweeping strings and Katie following each orchestral high with soaring vocals, telling a story of hope and strength once again alongside the ‘Parallax Orchestra’, the pair prove there’s still more to discover within their soundscape. Max and Katie continue to create tracks which lend themselves to festival mainstages and arenas, taking fans into the depths of their emotions whilst providing a space to dance, too. Lionsis another stunning feat from Max and Katie, a signature of each track they’ve released since the beginning of their careers together.

Spotted as a pioneering force within the wider ecosystem, the emotion steeped within each one of their records has been a defining feature throughout their string of high-profile music placements in film, TV, advertising and games. Alongside a 30+ date tour which stretches from Glastonbury and Reading Festival to North America, their global fan base is set to see one of the biggest summers yet from the pair. With their anticipated EP, Higher Ground (Part 1)due to drop with Monstercat later this summer, a label which brought Koven’s ‘Butterfly Effect’ LP to the world, as well as its deluxe edition, Koven have officially broken into their own lane. The successes which lay in their wake are a testament to this, with even more to come this year.
